Dave Smith is an internationally known speaker, writer, expert witness and law enforcement trainer with an extraordinary commitment to the police profession.
Dave began his own police career after graduation from the University of Arizona when he joined the Tucson Police Department. In 1978 he took a position with the Arizona State Police. As a police officer, Dave held positions in Patrol, SWAT, Narcotics, & Training. In 1980 he developed the popular "Buck Savage" video training series, was the lead instructor for the Calibre Press "Street Survival" seminars from 1983 to 1985, and helped to develop Calibre's timeless "Tactical Edge" book.
After retiring as a lieutenant from the Arizona State Police, Dave joined the Law Enforcement Television Network in 1989 as its primary on camera personality and it's Director of Education. Dave was the general manager of Calibre Press until January of 2002 and is now president of Dave Smith & Associates, a law enforcement training and consulting company based in Illinois.
Dave continues to develop hundreds of programs across the spectrum of police & corporate training needs. He is currently the senior instructor of the "Street Survival" seminar, Director of Video Training for Police One TV, and a regular columnist for Police magazine, the Calibre Press Newsline and PoliceOne.Com. He makes frequent media appearances as a law enforcement expert and can be seen on Police One TV at www.policeonetv.com.

Dave now resides in Illinois and is married to Sergeant Betsy Brantner Smith, a law enforcement officer, writer, and trainer for Dave Smith and Associates and the "Street Survival" seminar. Together they have four children.
