A Few Words About Me

A 29-year veteran of a large Chicago suburban police department, Sergeant Betsy Smith has been a trainer and motivational speaker for over 20 years. As a police officer, she has held positions in patrol, investigations, narcotics, juvenile, crime prevention and field training.

From 1999 - 2003 Betsy hosted various the "Roll Call" and "LETN Live" shows for the Law Enforcement Television Network, and served as a content expert. She also served on the advisory board of “The Police Marksman” magazine.

Biography

A graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety's School of Staff and Command and Western Illinois University, Betsy writes for numerous law enforcement and government publications, and is a regular columnist for Police One and a member of their training advisory board. She serves as an on-air commentator and advisor for Police One TV and was a featured character in the Biography Channel's "Female Forces" reality show. Betsy is the lead instructor for the Calibre Press "Street Survival for Women" seminar and has been a content expert and instructor for the Calibre Press "Street Survival" seminar since 2003.

Betsy now manages Dave Smith & Associates, a law enforcement training and consulting company based in Illinois and together, Betsy and Dave teach courses on leadership, communication, emotional survival, and officer survival from a mindset perspective through "Winning Mind Seminars." Betsy also leads workshops on such topics as career survival, child safety from a parenting perspective, female officer survival, inter-departmental communication, and helping marriages thrive. All of these courses are adaptable to your specific agency or corporate needs.
